HUNGER

Over the years the West Michigan Conference has given millions of dollars to alleviate hunger both at home and abroad. Through cash gifts, local food pantries, special fund-raisers like CROP Walk, and political action through Bread for the World, United Methodists have proved their concern for the hungry. For 2005 the Conference has a $16 per member goal for hunger giving. Churches are urged to reach that goal by:

bulletGiving to the One Great Hour of Sharing
bulletContributing to two or more UMCOR Advance Specials, including Heifer Project.
bulletParticipating in a CROP Walk or Blanket Sunday
bulletDonating to all Bishops' Appeals.

Projects listed in Lane 4 of the Six Lanes of The Advance, Refugee sponsorship, United Methodist Women Supplementary Giving to UMCOR, and Domestic Hunger work (financial, material, and volunteer) all count toward the goal.
